In this commissioned portrait series, Flo, a first-generation Haitian-American from New York comes alive. Shot on location in Detroit, the photographs center the University of Michigan graduate student who fell in love with the city and was inspired to reimagine the portrayal of Black women--starting with her perception of self. For Flo, the portraits are the perfect vehicle to explore her personal style. As the relationship grew, she invited her sister Katherine to join. Next up is a session with Flo and her mother.
