Let Them Eat Water

Let Them Eat Water, 2016

Presented at both the Pittman-Puckett Gallery at Affirmations Community Center in Ferndale and Art Babes in Detroit, Let Them Eat Water, is a series of digital collages and documentary photography created between 2014 and 2016. Beginning with Mami Wata and expanding to Kiko and Yemaya, the contemporary art and concept photography explores othering and the ways in which social action is simply a temporary bandaid. The work features self-photography of the artist, the Detroit River and images captured in Cuba & Puerto Rico, paralleling forgotten places.
