Riding with Aunt D. Dot (2018) is a transdisciplinary project bringing together personal narrative, radical imagination, experimental video, activism, and the Detroit city bus. A deeply collaborative work, the short film was co-created with artists Hanniyah Cross and Stephanie Blair Watts, directed by and featuring bree Gant, and co-written with Producer Paige Wood. The project was made possible by a 2017-2018 fellowship award from Detroit Narrative Agency and community partnership with the Transit Justice Team at Detroit People’s Platform. The film is currently touring galleries and conferences. The team is working on public art installations centering essential riders and a podcast series with audio producer Erin Allen.
